The Glenferrie Hotel boasts a rich history dating back to 1875 when it began life as an unassuming house serving as a private residence in the heart of Hawthorn.
Its destiny took a dramatic turn in 1888 when visionary entrepreneur John Ormond acquired the property. Foreseeing the transformative impact of the impending Glenferrie Railway Station, Ormond embarked on an ambitious project to expand the house into a three-storey hotel, anticipating a surge in clientele with the improved transportation links.

The beer garden is a hidden gem of Hawthorn. With a large retractable roof and heating, it creates the ideal setting for functions and events. It can cater for up to 120 guests for a sit down dinner and up to 200 guests for a cocktail style function. Just enjoyed a great squid and chips meal in the main bar at the Glenferrie Hotel. I ordered at the bar, and was served within 10 minutes of sitting down at my table.The seafood was fresh, and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be eating here again.
